Your proposal should contain a statement of the thesis of your paper, and a plan for how you intend to explain, support and argue for your thesis. A good thesis should have some element of originality, innovation, or controversy to it (it should not be trivial or obviously true), and yet you should be able to build a convincing case to support it in approximately 15 pages.
